Best Brownie Search – Batch 1 “Nigella’s Brownies”

Intro

So after two and half years we have an oven again. In the last six and a half years in fact, we have only had an oven for about two years. So here it goes the first thing to be made from scratch is a batch of Brownies!

With the ingredients bought today I have the capability to smash out quite a few different recipes.

They will be judged on: –

1. How it eats – Flavour, texture, overall eatability and would friends want to get the link for this recipe from you.
2. Scope of Ingredients – Ease of obtaining e.g. a cupboard staple vs. a trip to that specialist shop, amount used in recipe vs. standard packet size and your likelihood to use the ingredient in another recipe.
3. Difficulty of the preparation from source material – Whatever source, FB, weblink etc. How it is presented and then followed to end result and similarity of that end result.

Scoring

Of the three points above they each be given a score out of 33.33. That rounding 1 bps will be awarded of this is an all time solid repeatable dam good recipe.

Effectively giving you a score out of 100% for each recipe.

When Warm: 24/25/25 = 74%

When Cold: 19/25/25 = 69%

Average = 71.5%

Get oven up to bake temp

23x23cm Brownie tin. Already non stick but added non stick backing sheet cut to size to make turning out super easy

How much, hang on this is for a 33×23 tin but most are 23×23 so I reduced ingredients by 30&

Melting butter with 70% Lindt chocolate

Combine all ingredients

Calculations on the 30% less look like they worked out just right

No word on how long to leave in the tin, apparently still cooking but how to know Brownie is still good when cold?

Ok, so about an hour later and it turned out ok

Cut to good proportions and the edges seem like they are ready. Middle still a little bit weak so should leave till later to cut up the rest.
